The legendary Italian actor Michele Placido („La Piovra”) plays the “anti-hero” Don Marzio, a Neapolitan nobleman who frequents “La bottega del caffè” one of Goldoni’s greatest masterpieces. The comedy develops the lines of his fundamental dramaturgical reform, renouncing the masks, defining the characters, writing the dialogues – despite the Venetian setting, in the Tuscan language.
An ensemble comedy, centered on a microcosm through which Goldoni sketches a multifaceted social and human fresco.
